Dear friends in Christ,

We are nearing the end of October, and this means that Advent, and the beginning of a new church year, are just around the corner. This is the most exciting time of the year for Anglicans, so please take time for prayer and study so that you can enter into the coming seasons intentionally and draw closer to God as we live and worship together.

For the second year in a row, we will have an All Hallows Eve service on the evening of October 31st. This service offers us an opportunity to remember that we are members of a great communion of saints that spans the ages. It will be a short service with scripture readings, hymns, and a brief homily. We hope that you will join us!

After the All Hallows Eve service we will host our 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat. We need 4 more people to decorate the back of their vehicle. It can be any theme you would like, but we ask that it not be overly scary or violent in any way. We have approximately 15 kids in our congregation plus any visitors. Jodi & Elliott Archibald already have us well stocked with candy, but you are welcome to bring an alternative treat as well.

Feel free to invite your neighbors. Costumes are welcome by kids and adults!

For All the Saints: Saint James of Jerusalem, Bishop and Martyr, Brother of Our Lord

For All the Saints: Saint James of Jerusalem, Bishop and Martyr, Brother of Our Lord
Saint James of Jerusalem served as the first bishop of Jerusalem. He was known by many epithets: James the Just, James the Righteous, James Adelphotheos (brother of God), and the Brother of Our Lord. The gospels of Matthew and Mark list James first in the list among the brothers of Jesus. Church tradition has differed on what exactly is meant …
