| | A Message from Fr. Bryan | Welcome to April 21st and two inches of snow on the ground! The good news is that the skies will clear, and the weather channel suggests it will be 79 by Wednesday of next week. A few days of cold are no problem at all when we can look forward to a long season with more sun and warmth. We certainly have a lot to look forward to!

I've been reading and thinking quite a bit, lately, about the strange direction our culture is taking. I found one essay especially helpful, so I thought I would share. It was written by Timothy Dalrymple (essay here) and offers some explanation for why our culture is so splintered, but it also provides some helpful advice to help Christians move forward. I believe that, at St. John's, we are doing exactly what we need to be doing in times such as this - focusing positively on the First Things of the gospel.

Regarding our search for a new Rector, we submitted information to the diocese on Monday and expect to see a posting on both the diocesan website and on the provincial website soon. The posting will include a description of our church, the kind of Rector that we would like to hire, and links to an application form. As Senior Warden, Bob Archibald is organizing a search committee to help review applications and then narrow down a list of candidates to work with. The Vestry, with the Bishop's approval, will have the final decision in making an offer when that time comes.

Pray for St. John's - that we will continue to grow in grace as a fellowship, that our Rector search will not be rushed, that the Holy Spirit will provide wisdom and guidance, and that God will continue to bless us in the years ahead. Suzanne and I are excited to be part of it and are certainly praying with you.

| The Foundations of the Church by Fr. Bryan | | Fr. Bryan used this week to remind us of the humble beginnings of our church, and of the legacy of its namesake, St. John, into which we have lived, and seek to live into for many years to come.
