A Message from Chad

Dear Friends in Christ,

I hope that this dispatch finds you all doing well. As many of you know, summers tend to be a slower, lazier time for most churches. People go on vacation, spend holidays with families, and start getting other projects done. We, on the other hand, have hit the ground running, and we are still picking up steam. St. John's is truly gearing up for a busy and wonderful summer together. This being said, there are just a few items to keep in mind in case you were not able to hear them announced at church this Sunday.

First, we will be re-initiating our children's catechesis on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. This will begin sometime in July, and more information is forthcoming about a specific date what this will entail. On this same note, adult catechesis will be resuming in the near future also, so keep that in mind as well. You may contact myself or David Beer with any questions or concerns about catechesis.

Second, our men's and ladies' groups are going to begin meeting again. Please note the dates, times, and locations listed above listed above. Like catechesis, these are gatherings which were severely hindered by Covid-19 in the last year, so it will be a joy to be in fellowship with one another again. If you are able, I would strongly encourage you to come, and if you have any questions about fellowship gatherings, feel free to reach out to me, or to Joe Russell with any questions.

Finally, I wanted to inform everyone that the Search Committee met again last evening and continues to make very good progress. Applications continue to come in and we have some outstanding candidates to consider. The committee will meet again next week to continue our mission to help identify our next rector. The application deadline closes on June 19th, so we will be just another step closer by this time next week.

The collect for Proper 5 which we have been praying this week reminds us to ask that God would be ordering this world by his providence for the benefit of our service to him. Seeing all of the joyous busyness in our congregation as we serve and commune with one another reminds me that God is at work doing just that in this post-Covid season. In the midst of the busy summer we have ahead of us, please pray with me that God would continue to watch over us in his providence over the course of our summer, and that we might, as a community, serve him in quiet confidence and godly peace.

Grace and Peace,
Chad Sanner
