Dear people of St. John's,

Fr. Joe Gasbarre has written a letter to us in anticipation of his first Sunday here at St. John's:
St. John’s Anglican Church,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! We are currently up to the brim with boxes, empty cupboards, and find ourselves purging more “stuff.” We can’t believe that one month from today will be our first Sunday (Sept. 12th) with you as your new and first rector. There are so many emotions stirring within all of us in the Gasbarre family. There is sadness saying goodbye to our current church family in Savannah, GA but at the same great joy and expectancy to join you, our new family in the LORD.

As I reflect on these upcoming transitions, I am filled with such gratitude and honor to have been chosen and called to you. I remember when Fr. Bryan and I imagined what an Anglican Church would look like in Canton, OH. It is truly remarkable to see those imaginations take your faces, voices, and presence in what has become St. John’s Anglican Church. In the few visits we have shared together in worship, fellowship, and conversation, it is clear the LORD has raised up such a rich and gifted place.

In the coming weeks, I ask for your continued prayers. Pray for Alyssa, Joey, and Charlie. Pray for all the new things for us to transition into: school, housing, and a whole new adjustment in ministry. You will be in my continued prayers too. I pray for the LORD to continuously hold you together by His relentless grace. He is your Good Shepherd who gladly bears you up and carries you home rejoicing. I am thrilled to be one who will be there with you.

The grace of our Lord Jesus, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all evermore. Amen.

Grace and Peace,
The Rev. Joe Gasbarre
