| | A Message from Fr. Joe | This upcoming Sunday we have a very unique and special service where I am given the honor of officially becoming your first full time rector. Bishop Mark will be the principal celebrant and preacher for the service, along with the help of various parishioners and the Vestry. While it is a service focused on my role as rector, it is also about sharing a ministry together for the building up of Christ’s Church.
During our catechesis hour, I will teach the articles which pertain to Christian ministry and unpack the liturgy for this institution service. Our children will also exploring this service in their catechesis, as they will be participants in the service too.
Finally, please join us afterwards for a more robust hospitality together. As we move forward in ministry together, I invite all of your prayers for St. John’s and myself. God is truly at work in this place and around us. Let us pray for wisdom, courage, and trust in the LORD for our future together. Please invite a friend or stranger and hope to see you this Sunday!

Grace and Peace, The Rev. Joe Gasbarre

| Christ Our Helper by Fr. Joe | | A message from the series "Sermons from Lectionary Texts." “Marriage, Marriage is what brings us together today!” I just can’t help myself with movie quotes. Last Sunday we went back to the beginning in Genesis where the LORD ordained and established the holy covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. But even more wondrous, God brought the one true helper fit for all humanity, especially for sinners like you and me.

| | Join us every second and fourth (usually) Thursday night for our Eagle and Child reading group! This is a group that meets to discuss and apply classic works in Christian theology from the likes of Lewis, Augustine, Bonhoeffer, and other important authors. Currently, we are reading The Love of Wisdom by Andrew Davison to discuss the history of philosophy as it relates to Christian theology and practice. |
 | Cana Vox is a discussion group that meets every other Friday where those, married or unmarried, who support a classical understanding of marriage can explore the controversial issues in a calm, deliberative setting that is not subject to the hostilities often found in today's public discourse on the topic. We seek to discuss thoughtful and gospel-oriented responses to the confusion surrounding marriage in our culture. |
