Dear friends in Christ,

For a temporary season, the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes, of which St. John's is a member church, is under the pastoral care of Bishop John Miller of Florida. Bishop Miller will be in Northeast Ohio this weekend to meet with several churches and priests from the Diocese. I have invited him to preach and preside at St. John's on Sunday, December 15th, and he has graciously accepted the invitation. I hope you will join us this Sunday and offer a warm welcome to Bp. Miller. You can learn a little more about him by clicking on this link.

As you know, our service of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. This service of bible readings and carols is one of the jewels of the Anglican tradition. It includes nine short readings from the bible, beginning with the fall from grace in Genesis before touching highlights such as the promises of God made to the patriarchs, the anticipation of a Messiah in the prophets, and the culmination of God's redemptive plan in the birth of Jesus the savior. Each reading is followed by traditional Advent and Christmas hymns so that worshippers are swept up into a beautiful and participatory service of learning and worship. We will have refreshments following the service, so please plan to join us, and invite friends!

Also, don't miss the short essay on the incarnation by C.S. Lewis, which you can find below.

Grace & Peace,
