Dear friends in Christ,

A big thanks to Daniel Semelsberger for preaching on Sunday. I continue to be amazed and blessed by the gifts scattered about at St. John's, and I am eager to see how God makes use of us all in the months and years ahead. This coming Sunday, we plan to talk about the Lord's prayer in adult catechesis, so if you are joining us at 9:00 a.m., you may want to prepare by reading Matthew 6:9-13. If you would like to read a relatively academic paper on the prayer, I recommend the linked essay by Brian Pitre.

If you've been reading along in our Anglican Basics series of blog posts, then you may be interested in some thoughts that I've written down about the nature and authority of "tradition" for a Christian community. During our Eucharistic service, we will continue in our Epiphany theme of the I Am statements by focusing on John 11:17-44 and Jesus' statement, "I Am the Resurrection and the Life." I believe that is all that I have to report this week.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday!

The Peace of Christ,

In Bonhoeffer’s mind, this …
