St. John's Schedule

A Message from Fr. Bryan

Dear Friends in Christ,

I'm looking very forward to confirmations this Sunday - August 16th! Bp. Grant LeMarquand will preach and preside over the service, so be sure to offer him a very warm welcome. Our confirmands will include Joe Russell, Tina Russell, Joshua Boquist, Leighton Boquist, Josiah Spencer, Bethany Spencer, Rhyse Tennant, Sarah Abshire, Maira Liliestedt & Maria Wells. Chad Sanner has already put the liturgy together, so I will review it and make it available under the "Worship" tab on our homepage in the next day or two. If you are being confirmed and want to read through the service, feel free to have a look. You can also find it in the prayerbook, though it will not be incorporated into the Eucharistic liturgy there as it will be on Sunday.

Please note - the bishop has specifically asked that everyone in attendance wear a mask, and we need to abide by his wishes. His wife is highly "at risk," so this is an important matter for him. Our usher - David Beer - will point anyone without a mask to our surgical masks on the hospitality table.

Also, whether you are being confirmed or not, please have a look at our membership document, which includes a signature page. You can access the document at this link to review it, and I will bring copies of the signature page to church beginning this coming Sunday. I will collect these signature pages from this point forward in order to keep better records of our members. I apologize that I did not have these available this past Sunday.

I read a very helpful essay by Tim Keller last week, addressing the issue of "justice" from a biblical perspective. It is an excellent critique of the so-called "critical theory" approach, which guides current secular justice movements. The essay is long but worth your time, and you can find it at this link.

Finally, we will have a brief reception outside on the sidewalk following the service. Refreshments will be provided, so I look forward to seeing you all there!

Grace & Peace,
Bryan+
