| | A Message from Fr. Bryan | I have two important announcements this morning, so please read to the end of this message. First, we will have our annual church-wide business meeting immediately after our online worship service on January 31st. The meeting will take place on Zoom, and we will have several items on the agenda.
|
- A Brief Financial Report from our Treasurer, Bill Griffing
- Comments from our Rector about the year ahead
- A transition from a Mission Council to a Vestry by a vote of the members of St. John's.
For those of you who do not know, a Mission Council is typically an advisory board serving a congregation in support of a church-planting priest. Once a church becomes sustainable, the mission council is typically replaced by a Vestry, which is an elected church body with fiduciary responsibility for a congregation. Prior to our January 31st business meeting, I will provide more detailed information about the voting process and the nominees up for consideration, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, you can learn more about the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes and its governing structures by reading our Congregational Handbook, and you can read more about the nature of membership at St. John's by reviewing our Membership Covenant.

The second announcement is that we will begin to meet in-person once again on Sunday, February 7th at our regular time of 10:30 am. Since we are not out of the woods with the pandemic, we will continue to wear masks, social distance, and observe the procedures put in place last summer. You can find those procedures in the attached document. This is good news, and I look very forward to worshipping with you all once again. One notable difference between this re-gathering and the last is that we plan to re-introduce congregational singing at this time.

We have just two Sundays remaining for online worship, and as usual, consecrated bread will be available at the church. Unfortunately, I have a commitment at Malone this coming Saturday, so please note the changed schedule this week. There will be no pick-up on Saturday, but the church will be open before the service on Sunday.
|
- Thursday, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- Friday, from 10 am to Noon
- Sunday morning, 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
I hope you all have a wonderful week.

| A Royal Priesthood, by Fr.Bryan | | A message from the series "Sermons from Lectionary Texts." This Sunday, Fr. Bryan laid out the future of the church, post-pandemic, and how Christians must each embrace their identity as "priests" in the Kingdom of God in this new era for the church.
