A Message from Fr. Bryan

Dear Friends in Christ,

Thank you all for your participation in the business meeting this past Sunday. I am happy to report that we now have an official Vestry and that we are wasting no time in getting about our work. Our first meeting is this coming Thursday, and I'm looking forward to it. Thank you, also, for your faithfulness throughout the past year. I suspect that we will always remember 2020 & 2021, and I hope we can remember this as a time when God was working in us for good. A friend shared a quotation several days ago by Malcolm Muggeridge, which I hope you will take to heart. Near the end of his life, Muggeridge said, “Looking over my 90 years, I realize I have never made any progress in good times. I only progressed in the hard times.” I suspect Muggeridge is on to something.

As you should know, we will resume in-person worship this coming Sunday. The really good news is that we will begin congregational singing once again, and I am especially ready as I know many of you are. However, please remember that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and that we will continue our social-distancing and mask-wearing. Masks need to be worn properly - over the mouth and nose - especially if we are to resume singing, so please be diligent and continue to be patient for just a few more months. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, and we are moving towards a gradual return to normal.

We will also have hand sanitizer available throughout the sanctuary, and for those uncomfortable with coming forward for the Eucharist, consecrated bread will be available on the welcome table. Some of our members will continue to join us via Zoom or Facebook Livestream, so please know that we do plan to make the service available on those platforms.

Just two more things: First, Ash Wednesday is coming soon, so be sure to mark your calendars for a special Wednesday evening service at 7:00 pm on February 17th. Second, Leighton Boquist is scheduled to be induced today at 2:00 pm at Akron General, so pray for Joshua, Leighton, and baby Nathaniel! Look for a meal sign-up opportunity for the Boquists from Suzanne coming soon.

I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.

Grace & Peace,
Bryan+
