St. John's Weekly Dispatch, v. 2

Dates to Remember & Links to RSVP

Dear friends in Christ,

We have a busy season in front of us, but these are exciting and fulfilling times at St. John's. Thank you all for your consistent support and participation in our ministries. Today is the Feast of St. Augustine, Bishop of Hippo, so be sure to check out Fr. Sean's latest blog post below. Also, please join us tonight at 6:30 p.m. for Eucharistic worship and a sermon by our own Augustine scholar, Dr. David Beer. We've just wrapped up our series titled God's Big Picture, and we'll launch a new series this coming Sunday taking us through 1 Corinthians. If you would like to, we recommend focusing on that epistle for your own devotions in the coming months.

Our Eagle & Child reading group is beginning soon, and if you plan to participate, be sure to order On the Incarnation, by St. Athanasius. The group will discuss the introduction by C.S. Lewis and the brief biography at its first gathering on September 12th. Be on the lookout for an email from Fr. Sean or Daniel Semelsberger for more information about time and location.

Finally, our season of catechesis is quickly approaching. On Sunday, September 29th we will begin meeting at 9:00 am before worship and continue for 12 weeks. Our teaching schedule will be based on a book titled Confessing the Faith: Anglican Doctrine. If you plan to participate in catechesis, please click the following link where you can order the book if you wish, and RSVP: Catechesis Sign-Up Form.

Grace & Peace,
